Our original, agreed upon, plan after mediation was to have me be the de facto, and hopefully real, CP as I would have son 5 weeks for every 4 weeks my wife has him. I don't know if legally this would be joint custody or if I would be CP.
I'll see what my attorney thinks.
True, I must trust my wife if I retain less time to start even though this is temporary.
If I were to be granted custody, I would work all day and all night to pay for daycare, and to have my son basically raised by strangers. I can't reconcile in my mind how this would be best for him. I also wouldn't want to deprive my son of his mother if my wife were to still move as planned. What would be best is for me to fight for custody, win, and my wife decide to "rough it" in L.A. and maybe we could pool our resources (probably via child support) to remain nearby. I plan on going back to college so I can improve my living conditions and our son will have both parents who are better able, financially, to care for him. I may need to move in the future, but this is way in the future. We'll see.
