Ok Question on court history

I know that woman and children use to be the "property" of the husbands. When did the shift from the dads always(or most of the time) getting the kids in court to the woman getting the kids more often? What brought about that change( please do not say femnazi pigs) that caused this sudden shift? Around what year did this shift happen? Thanks!!
