The changes ARE happening on the "societal level", as you called it, but at a slow pace. I've noticed that in general conversation, more people favor equal shared parenting than a decade ago or even 5 years ago. It helps to speak our minds on these issues at every level, even among our friends and neighbors.
People who oppose 50/50 parenting fall into two catagories: those with an agenda for an old fashioned mother supremacy attitude and those who have no clue what is really going on in American divorce. The former group will not be swayed, nor will they enter into a debate they know they will lose. It is the latter group we need to reach.
