I have a lot of ideas why it is so. In my case, it's a step-mom who can't tolerate my being involved in my children's lives.
I think a lot of it is simply the new mate is insecure or doesn't have enough maturity to realize that a child can't simply exchange parents as if trying on new clothes without severe consequences to the child.
