If mom is a good parent, and even if she wasn't in the past but has now changed her life or is working to change her life, there is no reason a judge won't grant joint custody.

It is highly unlikely that a judge will just roll full custody over to mom wihout endangerment. But it is highly likely that a judge will grant joint custody with mom having visitation time.
