I must have missed something there. Did she say that her lawyer would not do something?

She certainly can indicate how she would like the case handled with her lawyer. However, the lawyer makes strategy decisions and wrong or right, that is not anything that an ethics board can review. If the lawyer disagree with what the client wants, or finds the legal arguments or strategies the client would like to make irrelevant, he/she should withdraw from the case and allow her to look for someone else.
