in this case, there was no dispute between the parents and no coercing. They are doing what they both feel is good for them and their child. Who is the state to stand in the way. There is no harm or abuse being done to the child that warrants this type of intrusion. I guess the same could be said for many other cases where the state gets involved.
I would like to say that this suprises the hell out of me but, sadly, it doesn't.
