History of "One Nation Under God" -

The original "Pledege Of Allegiance" was written by one Francis Bellamy, a Baptist minister, in August 1892.

His original Pledge read as follows:

I pledge allegiance to my Flag and (to*) the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. He had considered placing the word "equality" in his Pledge, but knew that there were those who were against equality for women and African Americans.

* - The word "to" was added in October, 1892.

In 1923/24 the National Flag Conference, under the leadership of the American Legion and the Daughters of the American Revolution, changed the Pledge's words "my Flag", to "the Flag of the United States of America".

In 1954, Congress after a campaign by the Knights of Columbus, added the words, "under God", to the Pledge.

History of "In God We Trust" -

The first suggestion for the use of IN GOD WE TRUST was back in 1861. By Congressional act, the words first appeared on the back of the the two-cent coin in 1864, followed by the one-cent coin.

By another Congressional act in 1885, the motto was placed on the gold double-eagle coin, the gold eagle coin, and the gold half-eagle coin. It was also placed on the silver dollar coin, the half-dollar coin and the quarter-dollar coin, and on the nickel three-cent coin beginning in 1866.

In 1956, the President approved a Joint Resolution of the 84th Congress, declaring IN GOD WE TRUST the national motto of the United States. IN GOD WE TRUST was first used on paper money in 1957, when it appeared on the one-dollar silver certificate.

So...it would appear that you know next to nothing about the history of these two items...the ONLY thing that you got [partly] right was that that the Pledge was written by a minister.
