My husband's ex (never married to the woman), was married to a different man, with two more children (children where 5, 2 & 1 at the time). Met a guy on line who had a rich family, went for a visit to check out how rich his family really was, gave custody of the 2 & 1 year old to the father and tried to take off with my husband's daughter.
We got a restraining order so she left my step daughter for 6 months while she took off across the country to play house and hook this guy. Once the guy was hooked she used his money to wage war in the courts. Still couldn't take my step daughter so she married internet guy, had him move here, had another baby.
She tried to get a change of custody of the 3 & 4 year old at that point (because he filed for child support). That failed. She then filed a year later to try and relocate my step daughter again. After almost a 2 year fight she was allowed to relocate and left the then 4 & 6 year old again.
The youngest, now 5 year old has been diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder. BM blames it on the custodial dad, but mostly her kids' step mom. Couldn't be related to leaving her kids so many time and seeing them but a 6 weeks a year with gaps of up to 6 months in between visits. Of course it could not be that.
