Psychodad, you shouldn't have agreed to every other weekend, but it isn't too late to tell the judge that it has become apparent that the mother is refusing to coparent. Again, it would behoove you to petition for custody and if she isn't responding it would crazy not to ask for the moon because you SHOULD get whatever you ask for.
It is no news to hear that a custody case has become prolonged, expensive and complicated, but your situation is worse than most. Ordering a GAL, Mediation and parenting classes is a knee-jerk reaction for some family courts. No surprise there. The question is: Have you taken steps toward complying with the judge's order? Has the child's mother taken steps to comply? Have you scheduled mediation? Have you taken your classes?
