The jurisdiction stays in the jurisdiction of the original decree court as long as one parent remains in that jurisdiction. the court will permit a change of juroisdiction to the jurisdiction where the child moves to but if you do not have the child in the new jurisdiction for a minimum of six months the court in that jurisdiction can not qualify to take jurisdiction. I am refering to jurisdiction in two different states, it may be less, like three months in different counties of the same state. the UCCJEA and the PKPA mandate a minimum of six months legal residency if contested before a motion can be filed to change the jurisdiction.
