Beth, welcome to our message board. There isn't much you can do about dealing with a controlling x because you can never change their behavior.
But if you don't like your parenting plan, file for a modification. There is no typical waiting period. I always say to file for what you want when you want it. If the judge says you need a change in circumstance, so be it. If you don't file, then it's your own fault, ya know?
