is that you CAN'T make someone be a parent, and you can't make someone pay, if they really don't want to. But you CAN always try to encourage the relationship and hope that the irresponsible one grows the hell up! That is the bargain for having a child with someone you barely know....although one parent may be more responsible, the other does not deserve to not have a chance to BE a parent.
