We are all on the same side regarding this issue, although you wouldn't think so very often, the way we seem to attack one another.
Do read my post below covering Pope Benedict's Easter address, you couldn't deny he's trying his best to make a contribution to preserving "the family" or traditional family could you?
I found a woman from the Australian forum I use gave me a very powerful pro-father message when I posted there on the topic of writing a letter to the Bishop. I will post her views for you separately, but in the meantime I will endeavour to shorten my letter to his grace, take out any pomposity or self congratulatory elements and tone down any negative one's about ex.'s. I hope there is enough left when I've done all that to gain his attention.
I do think it is always a good idea to try to engage figures in our establishment in some sort of dialogue. If a Pope can visit the jail of the man who tried to shoot him, as Pope John Paul II did then maybe one of our top Bishops will be prepapred to meet with those who wish to scale his church and unfurl banners etc.
We don't know everything do we, so perhaps we should try to learn as well as lecturing an ecclesiastical scholar on issues concening the bible and its interpretation. We do have more to say to him than that, and maybe he will be prepared to listen if we give him the chance.
All the best, Graham
