Not such good news. This was supposed to be a Motion to Withdraw, and my daughter's lawyer seemed to be asking to excuse herself from representing my daughter since I had stopped paying her. She saw no reason for either my daughter nor I to attend, so she was surprised when I appeared anyway.
I'm glad I did. She had no intention of withdrawing from the case. She was trying to get the case dropped, saying that since my daughter no longer lives with me, and it was a minor charge, the case should be dismissed.
I corrected her, saying that my daughter did not change her residence. She ran away from home and I planned to bring her back. I found out that the lawyer had asked the prosecutor to drop the felony charges and the proescutor did that, even though I had sent a letter asking that they NOT to that. So with nothing left but a misdemeanor, the lawyer argued that there should be no extradition if my D fails to appear.
The DJJ rep agreed that there should be no extradition, so my hope of having the DJJ take care of getting my daughter back evaporates a bit.
Still, I did get ahold of x today and she is aware of the court date and she said she is willing to send our D. So I will get a plane ticket and hope that x delivers.
