The judge finally made his decision. The judge ordered that my H pays no child support to his EW who has custody of their 16-year-old daughter, and the EW pays no child support to my H for their 18-year-old son who is in college full-time. As we live in Massachusetts, we were very surprised by this ruling. This state is very liberal, especially when it comes to child custody, almost always favoring the mothers and screwing the fathers.
In any event, we are extremely pleased. My only question is regarding legal custody. The judge granted 100% full physical and 100% full legal custody to the mother for the 16-year-old daughter.
Does anyone know how her having full legal custody would effect my H in the future--i.e., her bringing him back to court for doctor's bills, further education etc.?
According to everything we've read, she does not have to consult him about any major decisions. Therefore, if he is totally uninvolved in any decision making process, could she bring him back to court? I'm really specifically asking about further education, as their divorce decree is very vague and states "the ability to pay for college expeneses". By the way, my H is paying 100% of his son's college education, and the mother is paying nothing.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks........
