molestation is not a violent crime, if it had been this would have been rape. Now the poster may have also been wrong about the crime charged. But for the moment I will assume they understand the difference, molestation charges typically are charged when there was ongoing activity, possible even years, so it is someone they knew and even though still wrong, is not violent (in other words involving additional injuries.) Secondly the age of the perpetrator has yet to be released.
