In our case I knew x was the father, he claimed he wasn't. The judge ruled that once the results were in, the losing party would pay the entire cost of the DNA testing. ie: if he was the father he had to pay, if he wasn't I had to pay.

My lawyer had to request this, so maybe you could request something similar should it get to that point w/ you as well.

Or consider contacting your states child support enforcement division to see what their process involves to open a child support case for you. Generally you'll have to pay a fee of $30 or so to open a case w/ them unless you're on state aid, and they do not assist in resolving visitation issues so you'll etiher have to work together on that or involve the courts.
