What is a weding? What do the vows actually mean? What are the vows?
Considering marriage is a religious concept and commond law union is for the non believer.
How many saw the request by someone asking for a useable sermon on marriage and family values that is not being taught in many churches today?
Carefuly read the words of a standard cerimony. It goes something like this " we are gathered here before God and these witnesses to join this man and this woman in the bonds of holy matrimony, who gives this woman in marriage? Do you husband take this woman to be your lawful wedded wife, to love ,honor and cherish till death do you part. Wife do you promise to to love, honor, cherish and obey this husband till death do you part?
Now what is the biggest msconception in this? The fact is the VOWS are promses being made to GOD not each other, before witnesses. Mark chapter 2 verse 10. Let not man put assunder that which GOD hath joined in Heaven. Another verse "When can a man put away his wife" For the hardness of your heart I give you this precept. If a woman commit adultry she may be put away. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
It was the practice of the day to stone adulters to death. God commanded a stop to this practice.
So how does the court have a right to interfere with a wedding performed in a church? or to interfere in a family of that marriage? I'm sure there are lots of opinions on this issue but who wrote the book and is it your GOD given right to practice your religion or not?
Religion is in the heart. you do not pull down a book off of a shelf when you need a little pick me up. You either believe or you do not. If you believe then you are required to believe it all or nothing. If you do not believe then you have no duty to honor anything. That is refered to as a corrupt state of being, "Our family courts"
