Yes, it is called temporarily suspended the child support obligation. Nothing more fancy than that. It can be written up as part of a Stipulation and Order. If it is not memorialized as an order, it is not enforceable. I agree with Roman that it would be easier to have the check paid, cashed and money returned. Then, there can be no dispute it was paid without all the legal fees to formalize a Stipulation and Order.
of course, that also means either party could change their mind.
