but how is keeping positive influences out of childrens lives (i.e. parental role models or STEP parental role models) a positive notion? Kids deal with enough bull...and need as much family support as possible. We balme the violence on TV, video games, movies but I would say a lot has to do with the broken families. So if the family re-marries and the step parent is a positive role, it can only be beneficial to the child. And our kids need all the help they can get for their journey. Even if dad is TDY...we clearly see in VaStepmoms case that bio-mom has DIVORCED again and wants to move. I would say step mom is an example of 1) families can heal 2)show stability and 3) serve as a positive influence, even if dad is temporarily out of town.
You can justifyn "the law" but then you need to ask what is the true spirit and intention of that law.
