Change the roles involved in the question and then answer honestly:

Say you are a Non-custodial Parent and you find out that the Custodial Parent has been leaving the child(ren) in the care of someone else for overnight and extended periods of time without telling you. How would you feel?

Would you feel that since as a NCP your court order only grants you specific times in which to visit your child(ren), therefore it is perfectly ok for the CP to leave the child(ren) with extended family at her discretion?

Or would you feel that in the absense of the CP, you should be allowed to spend extra time with the child(ren) whenever she is unavailable?

As for your post that steps are parents too, I have some thoughts on that as well, but will post under that thread.

I am interested to hear your reply to the above.
