I know how you feel. That's one reason why my husband and I decided to get SD a cell phone. She was older of course, and we started out pre-paid. But it sure was nice not to have to call the ex's to talk to her and to know it was her calling and not the ex.
Now that she's moved, until your court stuff is settled, I wonder if she would agree to two 2weeks on 2weeks off to minimize the amount of travel he has to do. You probobly wouldn't like that much either...don't know. Solutions are difficult to find.
