I see your point. However, I don't agree that the CP should have to drive 1/2 of the distance (2 hours) for the start and finish of a visitation only to find out the NCP was never there during the parenting period..

While the child does have ties to the extended family as well as to the father, wouldn't it be easier to change weekends so that the child can spend quality time with their father AND the extended family?

In my order, there is a flexibility clause that says something along the lines of both parents must act in good faith in accomodating reasonable flexibility requests in the parenting schdeule as situations arise.. or something like that..

Maybe I'm wrong, but wouldn't it be the best use of everyones time to have everyone the child cares about available during the parenting period with the father.. especially since distance is an issue!

If they were across town, the NCP could sqeeze in extra time later in the week when he returns, but with a 4 hour distance the NCP and the child will miss out on spending time with one another until the next parenting period.. which I gather would put a month between the child and father being together! I don't see how that is in the childs best interest.
