I agree, it is not in the child's best interests to go such a long period without seeing their parent. In some circumstances, like ours, we have no choice. DH is gone for 5 weeks and is not available to exercise his visitation. In his absence, I would like to exercise his visitation, as I am the next best thing to him for his daughter. Now, please note, I am NOT saying it is better for SD to be with me over her mother, but as a substitute for dad... his lifestyle, parenting, and overall way of life, I am the next best thing for her. Does that make sense? I'm having a hard time putting into words what I'm thinking about this...
