They really have to take the woman's word for it, even knowing that they lie. If the woman gets killed and they did not grant the restraining order they are liable and the county woudl be sued.
I feel for the judges on this point. They have to issue restraining orders sometimes knowing it is a lie and hope that the following investigations can show, or at least put serious doubt into their stories.
What those women did is a contributing factor for why some women/men end up dead in dom viol situations. Because the practice of women lieing is so wide spread, it puts doubt on anyone trying to get help in a serious situation. In my opinion they have blood on their hands. SHAMEFUL.
