Thanks for your comments Frank. My fiance and I only want to do what is best for his daughter. I truly believe a child should know both of their parents. They also deserve to know their father's side of the family.
We have talked extensively about what we think is right, and we would like to, at least, see her every other weekend and on holidays. She lives an hour and a half away from us and it would take 3 hours of a visitation day just to pick her up and bring her to our home. Do you know if we could ask the court if they could meet us halfway? Also, do you know if we can write up an agreeement with the mother regarding visitation without having to go to court? (That is, if we can re-establish lines of
communication?
To answer your question regarding the exiting order for custody, I do not know what that is, but if she could go to court herself and ask for it, maybe? If the father needs to be contacted regarding going to court for this matter,no.
Could you explain what the exiting order is?
We have already contacted a lawyer and he has tried to discourage us from trying to get visitation. He said it would be a bigger pain than it is worth. We adimately disagree with him.
Finally,
You said to file a petition with the court by ourselves if we need to. How do we go about doing that?Any help would be so greatfully appreciated.
Thank you again
