My husband has two children (no marriage) with his ex. His ex dropped the kids off in the summer of 2004 and never came back to get them. She started coming back around and calling shortly after we got married in 2006 and now my husband is heading off to military boot camp and she wants to take them back. His daughter; 10 years old, adamently refuses to go. She is constantly yelled at and has just grown distant from her mother. I have tried to talk to the mother but receive only hang-ups. Is there anything we can do to keep the kids even though I will be the one taking care of them while my husband is in boot camp for 14 weeks ?
