I did not read the comments left on the voice mail and I'm not sure I care to hear them. So I am in no position to judge how out of line they were, although it doesn't sound good.

I would like to comment on his supposed plan to write a book about PAS. I think that the last thing kids with PAS - and target parents - need is a verbally abusive, threatening PAS advocate. It says all the wrong things about the disorder.

Alec Baldwin's daughter may indeed be suffering from PAS, or she may not be. I wouldn't know.

Either way, unless he is writing about what NOT to do when parenting a child during divorce, (like Marcia Clark writing a book about her role in the OJ trial) he is not exactly the poster-child for unjustified hate.

The knock against PAS is that it is a false "junk science" tactic for helping abusers steal children from "protective" parents. Yes, of course that is a load of garbage, but it doesn't help when a would-be spokeman is quite publicly threatening and boorish, if not a true DV danger.

True, being the target parent in a parental alienation nightmare can lead one to the brink of outbursts on a daily basis, but a truely loving parent has the maturity and love to hold their tongue for the sake of the child.

An alienated child is a victim, not an instigator. They suffer more than the target parent does, even though have been turned into the weapon of their own destruction. The first and most important advice to give to a target parent is to NOT do what Baldwin did - justify the hatred. I also understand that this was not just one uncharacteristic outburst, but a typical Baldwinism.

Yes, I have said things I wish I could take back, and again I have not read Baldwin's remarks, but the most effective spokespersons against PAS will need to be people who have enough control over their words to show the world that the hate was not justified or rational.

Baldwin falls short of that standard.
