In that he has lost custody, do you mean he has had parental rights terminated? A different thing than losing custody rights to child, he could still get visitation being a non-custodial parent.

I would not want my child in foster care here in Ohio, but the alternative may be a family member who is viewed by court to be a good placement for child. They look at past arrests, any drug or alcohol adictions, and job history.

I had a friend lose custody of her grand son because she refused to say she would not take the child near her son who had murdered his other child. So you have to remember if parent has rights terminated, the state would never allow child near parent again.
