it was a domestic abuse case. After the restraining order which did not include the child the other parent just walked away never asking for visitation and never going to court for child support. The child is now seven and does not know that parent at all. I have had a house fire and lost everything, to get back on my feet I need to get state assitance for medical insurance. They told me then they would go after child support, which I do not want to do. I am afraid after all this time he would fight for visitation and cause unneeded pain in our lives. It was his decision to not see her, he was given updated addresses and has never sent even a birthday card. I want to be certain that if I get help from the state it won't cause pain and abuse for my seven year old.
