Their court date isn't until 3 weeks from now and until then he's barred from seeing his kid. Is there something he can do to speed this up or get the kid removed?

Unfortunately...no and I know that it sucks big time. I agree with CD that until he gets to court, he need to follow the order 100%...regardless of how much it hurts or pisses him off.

Any help on the direction he should go at this point would be greatly appreciated.

Have him go over her "grounds" very, very carefully; if California is like Oregon and Arizona, she would be required to list dates/times that these "incidents" happened and he needs to sit down and write out exactly what happened if some kind of altercation did take place or what he was doing if it was a false date (receipts would be nice).

And if he thinks his upcoming holiday Parenting Time is the reason he thinks that she pulled this crap, then he needs to write out anything that could lead to that reasoning. Like, if things have generally been amicable between the two of them...UNTIL he mentioned that he was taking this child to his parents' house for the holidays. He needs to be logical.

He also may want to consult with an attorney; not only to quash the TRO, but then to file a OSC against her for Violations of Parenting Time when it is quashed.
