HRUs, I'm not so sure about all of this recent focus on celebrity custody battles. Cruise wants to be seen as Father of the Year, but it is his sister and his hired help who are raising his child while he is out "Cruise"-ing. Kidman wants to get sympathy for being alienated, but she is living on the other side of the planet from her children, by her own choice.

Celebrities don't live in the real world. Personal assistants pose them in front of the paparazzi with kids they barely know. Expensive lawyers drop sound bites to the gossip rags over who hires the best nannies and who uses more drugs. Still, these high-profile cases do draw attention to some real-life divorce issues that that we all experience but never get media attention otherwise.

Calling the stepmother Mom is disrespectful and I don't think it is right, but calling their real mother "Nicole" is a sign of something far worse. I won't get into the religious stuff, because it is their business, but Cruise is clearly trying to push Kidman out of the life of her children.

In a few years those poor kids will be giving the paparazzi and the gossip rags even more dirty laundry than their parents already do.
