You can't force him to be a parent. However, there are different ways people handle strife and conflict. He is wrong. And, for abandoning the family, you are wrong.
With that said, you have to do what is right. Quit using the excuse "he won't help". Get a job, 2 if must. File for divorce if you you want. Go from there. Living with mom and not workingcan only work against you if he wises up.
