Just a short explanation as to why I've posted this topic, in case you were wondering why I thought it worth posting here.

"Gender bias" or gender differences sometimes appear on parents forums I frequent. So books or articles about notable figures who played some role in adjusting the "balance" between genders may be worth examining (the legal "balance", with anti discrimination laws, or cultural/legal balance where it is now seen as "okay" for women to occupy frontline military roles nowadays).

My next reason is that it appears to me sometimes to be very difficult to even talk about gender differences on almost any parents forum, in any contructive way at least. Some men's or father's forums are so anti feminsit a red mist decends at the mere mention of the word, and some academic intellectuals who do come forth to them do get roundly condemned (actually I find certainly one, Dr. Michael Flood, from Australia hard to take too, see http://www.xyonline.net/).

That wouldn't happen here (would it??).

I look forward to hearing whatever you have to say - I could throw in that you have a "gender" decision to make yourself soon: "Hillary or Obama" or will American's manage to make that decision entirely on policy differences?

Graham
